Public Holiday: 08th May 2019
National elections will take place on 08 May 2019
President Ramaphosa has declared the day a public holiday to allow those who wish to vote the opportunity to do so.
Payment: All employees are paid as they would normally be paid for 08 May as if they were at work for that day.
Overtime: If employees work on 08 May 2019 they are, depending on your industry, paid double time.
Payment for the public holiday is made regardless of whether the employee votes or not.
