YES - you can get two bonus BBBEE levels added to your BBBEE Certificate

It is entirely possible to add an extra two levels to your final BBBEE scorecard, through the YES (Youth Employment Service) programme.

The end result of the YES programme is:

- Meeting your YES target will give you 1 extra BBBEE Level.
- Meeting 1.5 times your YES target will give you 1 extra level and an additional 3 points to your score.
- Doubling your YES targets will give you your 2 bonus levels added to your final BBBEE Level.

Simply put: a level 6 could be a level 4, and a level 3 could be a level 1.

YES has been gazetted and is open to all BBBEE verifications immediately, and the concept has developed a lot of excitement amongst our clients, but there are very specific criteria to qualify for the YES programme:

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Generic companies (with a turnover over R50 million) MUST achieve the 40% sub-minimum of all three priority elements (Skills Development, Enterprise and Supplier Development and Ownership) OR an average of 50% across the three elements.

Qualifying Small Enterprises (turnover between R10 million and R50 million) will need to meet the 40% sub-minimum on two of the three priority elements, one of which must be Ownership OR 40% average over the two elements.

Exempted Micro Enterprises: No qualifying terms and conditions.

Black Ownership: There is no specific minimum requirement to have Black Ownership to participate in this initiative, and claim the BBBEE bonus levels.

The YES employees are employed on a 12-month limited duration contract for 5 days per week, paid at minimum wage, and the purpose is for them to get experiential training over that year.

The YES employees must be:
- Between the ages of 18 and 35.
- Black, Coloured or Indian men or women.
- South African citizens.
- Additional to your current headcount.

In addition:
- Once the YES programme starts your BBBEE score must be maintained or improved when compared to the BBBEE certificate immediately before the YES programme (This is not a continual year-on-year increase).
- You can sponsor a YES employee in another QSE or EME if you can’t take on your own.
- 50% of the costs of the YES employees can be claimed to your Skills Development Target.
- This does not apply to any of the charters…yet.

BRENTWOOD IS DEVELOPING A RESPONSE TO THE YES PROGRAMME TO BE INCORPORATED INTO THE BBBEE STRATEGY OF THOSE CLIENTS WHO WANT TO BE INVOLVED IN THE INITIATIVE.
