Paid public holidays during lockdown

We have three public holidays during lockdown and one immediately afterwards.

Are the public holidays paid? Yes.

The Public Holidays Act entitles employees to be paid for the public holidays cited in the Act - Good Friday, Family Day and Freedom Day.  Without an agreement, employees on the no-work-no-pay or part payment arrangement would be entitled to be paid for the public holidays.

Essential service employees working on the public holidays would be entitled to double the normal rate of pay for each public holiday.  Alternatively they can have two days off on full pay.

Public holidays can be moved to another day in the year, but this arrangement must to be by agreement.

Please make sure that any agreements are in writing and signed by both parties or their representatives.
