MAY TERS applications are supposed to have opened.

TERS application for May were supposed to be accepted from midnight last night, according to the Department of Employment and Labour.

This is not the case.

The TERS site (https://uifecc.labour.gov.za/covid19/) states simply that applications have not opened for May, and that we should check their website regularly.

On Monday the TERS Directive was amended by the minister.  The new changes are:

- Workers who are eligible to claim are:
    - A contributor
    - An employee who has not received benefits for reasons beyond their control.  This means that the employer has failed to:
        - Register as an employer.
        - Provide details of the employee.
        - Pay the UIF contributions to UIF.

- Benefits are extended to:
    - Workers who have lost income as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
    - Workers who have been required to take annual leave as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
