24 August 2022: SAFTU and COSATU’s national protest action has already begun.

The protest action has made its way through the Labour Relations Act processes via Nedlac and is a protected action, which means:

- Employees can’t be disciplined or dismissed for taking part in the protest.

It also means:

- No work, no pay for those who do participate. 

If somebody is not at work today, they can be assumed to be part of the protests and therefore not paid. 

Doctor’s certificate: If doctors’ notes are provided for the day, as the employer you are entitled to check the validity of the note before payment is made. [Read More…]
