Reduced salary and wages CAN claim the extended TERS benefits ( 01 July 2020 - 15 August 2020)

If employees are experiencing a temporary pay cut, regardless of the hours they are working, the employers can claim for TERS for the period ending 15 August 2020

Previously, a few days ago, the extended TERS was limited to:

- employers not permitted to commence operations under the Disaster Management Regulations;

- employers who were unable to make alternative arrangements for vulnerable workers.

- employers who were unable to make use of employees service because of National Disaster compliance and therefore implemented measures like rostering, staggering working hours, short time, introduction of shift systems and temporary reduction in the employee’s ordinary remuneration.

The recent explanation specifies that the temporary reduction in working hours is specifically included in the categories of employers and employees who may claim the extended TERS benefit.
