SAFTU joins EFF to shut the country down on 20 March 2023.

The South African Federation of Trade Unions has joined the EFF’s planned shutdown 20 March 2023.  SAFTU may, under the Labour Relations Act undertake protected protest action to promote the social and economic interests of workers.  NEDLAC has confirmed that the planned protest has met the requirements of the Labour Relations Act, and is therefore protected by the LRA. The National Minimum Wage has been increased and is effective from 01 March 2023.

The new minimum wage is R25,42 per hour, which reflects a 9.6% increase, and is applicable to all domestic workers, farm workers and all employees who fall under the Basic Conditions of Employment Act.
