Despite the Department of Home Affairs’ adamant statement that the deadline of 30 June 2023, the backlog at Home Affairs has resulted to another 6 months until the ZEP expires.
1 000 – 1 500 visa and waiver applications from Zimbabwean nationals are lodged daily.
The ZEP holders continue as usual: they can work, keep their bank accounts, continue studying until the end of the year. They may not be arrested, told to leave the country or be detained for deportation for any reason related to them not having a valid ZEP/Visa.
